Thorns

Keep on keeping on

We all walk on our path and when we reach a thicket we will have a decision. It gets weird because it really isn’t a decision at all. This isn’t about choices. this is about doing hard things. Doing hard things that hurt.

We will all have a time that will require us to walk through that thicket whether we like it or not. How we deal with this pain is unique to each one of us. It’s how we choose to approach our hardships that also separate us.

For each one of us is striving for something different. maneuvering, shifting, and positioning we move quietly. We all want what we want and are willing to do what we need to get it. Walking on coals is What we signed up for. Reluctantly but nonetheless we volunteered for this.

You have it and you’ll need it!

We shall not complain nor drown or sorrows in a drink. Now is the time to prepare for the thorns before us. The will call upon our friends to hold against our backs when we need a push. As we stumble we will find strength in ourselves and comfort in our family.

You may be tempted to tell yourself that the price is too high and the pain is too great. You will think that this is the time to sit it out. You’ll only be sitting a long time. this in the inevitability and it’s come calling. You can’t avoid this. You can handle it or it will handle you. Best you be in control of this one and not let the hands of fate control your destiny.

Either way, we approach it remember that you get cut and you will bleed. The thorns don’t go on forever and this thicket is a small distance along your path. Just keep walking.

Regret Nothing

Decisions will be made

We have been absent for some time as we have been both busy and lacking in inspiration. We have written many posts but none in the end worthy of posting. Forced letters onto the backdrop of a so-called post.

This morning we were reminded of something that we feel hasn’t been touched on by us in some time. That thing is regret. It’s the marker on the timeline of our lives indicating when we took a wrong turn.  Most of the time when we reach a fork in the road we will have a good idea that one choice may feel safe but the other will leave us knowing that we gave it a shot.

We can choose safety or we can roll the dice. A decision isn’t always black and white but it isn’t always right or wrong either. Sometimes you have to balance that risk/reward dynamic and make a decision that seems to be equally good or bad. What you may want to consider is weighing out the cost of that choice on your heart.

Is this something you are emotionally committed too? If so you may want to go out on a limb and take that chance. Looking back in hindsight and thinking to yourself “what if I had only done that thing” or “my life would have been so much happier if only” are only signs of choices made that should have either been done differently or chosen with more contemplation.

Starting this site was a choice that we have taken seriously and we will continue our commitment to it. We have chosen to regret nothing and to roll the dice when needed and balance safety with risk. The gamble is the amount of happiness we can spread and that is definitely worth it.
